Laurel, MD (SportsNetwork.com) – The Maryland Racing Commission has approved
an agreement by the Maryland Jockey Club, Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s
Association and Maryland Horse Breeders Association to have 149 days of
thoroughbred racing in 2015.
Pimlico, home of the 140th running of the Preakness Stakes, will conduct a
spring meeting of 37 days from Thursday, Apr. 2 through Saturday, June 6.
The Preakness, middle jewel of racing’s Triple Crown, will be held Saturday,
May 16.
Laurel Park will conduct a winter meeting, a summer meeting and a fall
meeting. The autumn meeting will be the first at Laurel since 2010.
The 2015 winter meeting will begin Thursday, Jan. 1 and conclude March 28 for
a total of 43 live racing days. Laurel Park will have an 11-day summer stand
from Aug. 1 through Aug. 23 and following the Timonium State Fair meet, will
conduct a 58-day fall meeting from Sept. 10 through the end of the year.
