Alcaraz set to miss 6-to-12 weeks with shoulder injury

Liverpool, England (SportsNetwork.com) – Everton defender Antolin Alcaraz is
expected to miss 6-to-12 weeks of action after suffering a dislocated
shoulder, manager Roberto Martinez confirmed on Wednesday.

Alcaraz sustained the injury during Saturday’s scoreless draw against Swansea
City while challenging Swans’ forward Wilfried Bony for an aerial ball.

“He [Alcaraz] has dislocated the AC joint in his shoulder and is going to be
out for a while, so it’s another opportunity for another player,” said
Martinez. “The decision now is if he needs surgery or not.

“That’s a decision we’re going to measure well and make the right call. It
could take six to 12 weeks depending on the route we take.”

Alcaraz came to Everton along with Martinez from Wigan Athletic last summer,
but missed most of last season due to injuries.
