Barcelona, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) – Barcelona has confirmed that defender
Jeremy Mathieu could miss the next three weeks because of a calf injury.
The 31-year-old featured in Barca’s 1-0 upset loss to Celta Vigo over the
weekend, but the club has announced that Mathieu is set for a short spell on
the sidelines.
“Jeremy Mathieu will miss the next few Barcelona games after picking up an
injury in his right calf, which will see him sidelined for two or three
weeks,” a statement on Barcelona’s official website read.
The France international will miss Wednesday’s Champions League match at Ajax
as well as a La Liga fixture with Almeria.
He is also unlikely to take part in France’s Euro 2016 qualifiers with Albania
and Sweden and is targeted for a return to action on Nov. 22 against Sevilla.
