Dayatthespa captures Filly & Mare Turf

Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Dayatthespa, ridden by Javier Castellano,
set the pace and went on to capture Saturday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Filly
& Mare Turf at Santa Anita Park.

Trained by Chad Brown, Dayatthespa got a great start in the 1 1/4-mile grass
race. She was pressed by Parranda the entire distance until late in the race.

The 5-year-old chestnut mare, partly owned by Bradley Thoroughbreds, remained
strong down the stretch and posted a two-length win over Stephanie’s Kitten,
the 2011 Juvenile Fillies Turf winner.

Finishing third was Just the Judge with last year’s race winner Dank getting
fourth in the 11-horse field.

The time for the Filly & Mare Turf was 2:00.12 on a firm grass course.

The victory was worth $1.1 million for the mare. Dayatthespa has won 11 of 18
career starts for $2.3 million.

This is the second Filly & Mare Turf win for the trainer/jockey combination.
Brown and Castellano teamed up in 2012 to win with Zagora.

Dayatthespa paid $13.00, $6.60 and $4.60. Stephanie’s Kitten returned $5.20
and $3.80, and Just the Judge paid $4.60 to show.
