Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Anaheim Ducks’ crease situation has
become much too interesting, and for the wrong reasons.
On Tuesday, the club recalled netminder Igor Bobkov from Norfolk of the
American Hockey League because of injuries to John Gibson and Frederik
Gibson is expected to be sidelined for the next six weeks due to a groin
injury suffered in warmups prior to Sunday’s game in Denver.
Andersen, who became the first goaltender in NHL history to win 26 of his
first 31 decisions, is considered day-to-day with leg tightness.
Jason LaBarbera was recalled from Norfolk before Sunday’s game and stopped 16
shots in the Ducks’ 3-2 win over the Avalanche. Anaheim was forced to dress
45-year-old Dwayne Roloson — the club’s goaltending consultant, who hasn’t
played since the end of the 2011-12 season — as the backup.
Bobkov was the Ducks’ third-round selection in the 2009 draft. The 23-year-old
Russian was 0-2-0 with a 5.05 goals-against average and .844 save percentage
for the Admirals this year.
