Foles has fractured clavicle, Ryans has Achilles injury

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly on
Monday confirmed that quarterback Nick Foles has a fracture in his clavicle
and added that linebacker DeMeco Ryans has an Achilles injury.

Beyond that, though, Kelly wouldn’t speculate. He said both players went for
MRI exams on Monday afternoon.

“He has a crack in it, but we don’t know the extent of it,” said Kelly about
Foles.

Foles was hurt in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against Houston, falling
hard on his left shoulder while being sacked by Whitney Mercilus. He left
under his own power, leaving Mark Sanchez to play the remainder of the
contest.

Sanchez helped the Eagles to a 31-21 victory, finishing the contest 15-of-22
with a pair of touchdowns and two interceptions in his first action since
2012.

“I feel really bad for Nick, but I’m confident about Mark,” said Kelly on
Monday. “He knows the system. His preparation is outstanding, always ready.
We feel real confident, if Nick (is out for any length of time.)”

Ryans was hurt in the fourth quarter after intercepting a Ryan Fitzpatrick
pass. He fumbled while falling to the turf with no one around him, then left
the field on a cart.

A ruptured Achilles, which was being widely reported following Sunday’s game,
would end Ryans’ season.
