New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Major League Baseball suspended free agent
pitcher Troy Patton 80 games without pay on Wednesday after he tested positive
for amphetamine use.
Patton previously violated the league’s drug policy and was suspended 25 games
at the beginning of the 2014 season.
The 29-year-old, who was traded from Baltimore to San Diego for catcher Nick
Hundley and cash considerations in May, made 17 appearances between the two
clubs last season. Patton allowed eight runs on 16 hits and five walks in 14
innings of work.
