East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) – The New York Giants have placed
offensive linemen Geoff Schwartz and Adam Snyder, defensive linemen Mathias
Kiwanuka and Robert Ayers, and linebacker Terrell Manning on injured reserve,
ending their seasons.
Schwartz, in his first year with the Giants, played in just two games. He
missed their first 10 games with a toe injury suffered in a preseason game,
and he injured his ankle early in Sunday’s loss to Jacksonville.
Snyder was also in his first season in New York. The veteran lineman played in
four games in 2014, including a Week 12 start against Dallas when he sustained
his knee injury.
Kiwanuka was dealing with a nagging knee injury. He missed Sunday’s game
against the Jaguars.
Ayers suffered a torn pectoral muscle against Jacksonville. In his first year
with the Giants, he was tied for the team lead in sacks with five.
Manning played in just one game for the Giants but did participate in three
earlier this year with the Chicago Bears. He hurt his ankle against
Jacksonville.
The Giants have now placed 20 players on injured reserve.
To fill the vacated roster spots, New York signed veteran running back Chris
Ogbonnaya and promoted three players from its practice squad. NFL rules
prohibit the Giants from filling Manning’s spot on the roster for three weeks.
Their three promotions from the practice squad are offensive lineman Eric
Herman, defensive lineman Dominique Hamilton and linebacker James Davidson.
New York signed defensive ends Paul Hazel and Jordan Stanton along with
offensive lineman Rishaw Johnson.
