Juve climbs back atop Serie A with Empoli defeat

Empoli, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) – Juventus moved back atop the Serie A table
on Saturday thanks to a 2-0 victory at Empoli.

The Old Lady slipped into a tie with AS Roma for top spot after suffering a
1-0 loss to Genoa on Wednesday, but they managed to rebound in Saturday’s
affair by grabbing two second-half goals en route to maximum points on the
road.

Juventus was held scoreless until the 61st minute when Andrea Pirlo broke the
deadlock with an expertly-taken free kick.

Alvaro Morata made sure of the win 11 minutes later to bring Juventus to 25
points on the season.

Roma failed to keep pace at the top of the table as the club suffered a 2-0
loss at Napoli on Saturday to remain on 22 points.

Gonzalo Higuain put the hosts in front after only three minutes while Jose
Callejon added an insurance goal five minutes from time.

In Saturday’s final Serie A match, Paolo De Ceglie helped Parma climb out of
the cellar with a brace in the club’s 2-0 home win over Inter Milan.
