Kalgoorlie, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) – Ryan Lynch fired a 5-under 67 in
Sunday’s final round and he came from behind to win the WA Goldfields PGA
Championship.
Lynch finished at 12-under-par 276 at Kalgoorlie Golf Club. This was his first
victory on the PGA Tour Australasia.
The Australian opened with a birdie at the first. He poured in three birdies
in a 4-hole span from the sixth to make the turn at minus-11.
Lynch, whose best tour finish was a tie for second at the 2013 Victorian Open,
moved to 13-under with birdies at the 10th and 13th. However, he bogeyed the
17th and parred the last. It was enough for his first tour win as third-round
leader Chris Gaunt stumbled down the stretch.
Gaunt bogeyed three of the last four holes to close out a 2-over 74. That left
him tied for second at minus-11. He was joined there by Peter Cooke (71).
Ben Campbell ended alone in fourth at 10-under 278 after a final-round 71.
Daniel Valente (72) and Jarryd Felton (74) shared fifth at minus-9.
