Maclin highlights NFC Players of the Week

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy
Maclin, New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Galette and Arizona Cardinals
special teamer Justin Bethel have been named the NFC Players of the Week for
their Week 9 efforts.

Maclin, the offensive player of the week, caught six passes for 158 yards and
two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 31-21 win at Houston. He opened the scoring with
a 59-yard touchdown pass from Nick Foles and accounted for the final points of
the game when he caught an 8-yard toss from Mark Sanchez.

The 26-year-old Maclin, who had 12 catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns in
Week 8, is the first Eagles player with at least 150 receiving yards and two
touchdown catches in back-to-back games in a single season.

Galette, the defensive player of the week, had four tackles, two sacks and a
forced fumble in the Saints’ 28-17 win at Carolina. He has six sacks in the
past seven games, including four sacks in the past four.

Bethel, the special teams player of the week, blocked a field goal attempt and
had a special teams tackle in the Cardinals’ 28-17 win at Dallas. With the
Cardinals holding a 14-10 lead, Bethel blocked Dan Bailey’s 35-yard field-goal
attempt on the final play of the first half to keep the lead at four heading
into halftime.

Bethel has blocked three field-goal attempts in his career. In college, he
established a Big South record by blocking nine kicks for Presbyterian.

At 7-1, the Cardinals have sole possession of the best record in the NFL this
late into a season for the first time since 1966.
