Marchand’s OT goal lifts Bruins over Panthers

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – Brad Marchand scored the winner with 1:33 to
play in overtime to give the Boston Bruins a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers
on Tuesday.

Marchand took a pass from Dougie Hamilton and skated down the middle, making a
move to get around Dylan Olsen before switching back to the forehand and
wristing it into the left corner for his fifth goal of the season and the win.

Patrice Bergeron scored the other goal while Tuukka Rask stopped 18 shots for
the Bruins, who have won their past three.

Jussi Jokinen scored for the Panthers, who had won two straight coming in.
Roberto Luongo stopped 23 shots in defeat.

The other goals came in the second period as the Panthers got on the board
thanks to a rush play that saw Jokinen finish it off with a wrister from the
slot at 4:04.

Just over three minutes later, the Bruins tied the game when Marchand sent a
touch pass from the left circle to the slot where Bergeron fired a turnaround
shot on net that beat Luongo.

Thursday … Boston has won nine straight over Florida … Florida forward
Shawn Thornton, who played with Boston for seven seasons before signing with
the Panthers in the offseason, played against his former team for the first
