Marseille held at Lorient

Lorient, France (SportsNetwork.com) – Marseille stumbled in Ligue 1 play on
Tuesday, settling for a 1-1 draw with Lorient at the Stade du Moustoir.

The match started brightly for the visitors as Dmitri Payet handed Marseille
the lead in the 33rd minute, but Jordan Ayew brought Lorient level just four
minutes later from the penalty spot.

Neither side managed to break through for a winner as Marseille climbs to 35
points but leaves the door open for PSG to climb atop the table with maximum
points against Lille on Wednesday.

Nantes remained in seventh place in the French top flight on Tuesday after
suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Toulouse.

Issiaga Sylla put Toulouse in front in the 24th minute while Jordan Veretout’s
penalty in the 64th got Nantes back on level terms, but it was Martin
Braithwaite’s strike five minutes from time that tipped the result in favor of
the visitors.

Rounding out Tuesday’s Ligue 1 slate, AS Monaco overcame Wallace’s 35th-minute
red card to get a 2-0 victory over Lens thanks to second-half goals from
Dimitar Berbatov and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco.
