Mie, Japan (SportsNetwork.com) – Mi Hyang Lee made a birdie on the fifth
playoff hole on Sunday to defeat Ilhee Lee and Kotono Kozuma to win the Mizuno
Classic.
Mi Hyang Lee, who finished regulation play deadlocked at 11-under-par 205 with
Ilhee Lee and Kozuma, fired a 3-under 69 in her final round. The win is the
first of Mi Hyang Lee’s career on the LPGA Tour.
After watching both Kozuma and Ilhee Lee make par on the par-4 18th, a hole
the three of them played six times on Sunday, Mi Hyang Lee drained her short
birdie putt to claim the title.
The finish in regulation was about as exciting as it gets, and in the end nine
players all ended one shot behind the trio. Saiki Fujita (67), Sakura Yokomine
(67), first-round leader Morgan Pressel (67), Jessica Korda (68), Ayako Uehara
(68), Karrie Webb (68), Na-Ri Lee (69), Chella Choi (70) and Laura Davies (71)
all tied for fourth at 10-under 206.
Defending champion Teresa Lu shot a 67 on Sunday and she finished tied for
13th with five others at minus-9.
