Milan visits Sampdoria eyeing a response

Genoa, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) – AC Milan will attempt to get its season
back on track on Saturday when the club visits the Luigi Ferraris Stadium to
tangle with fourth-place Sampdoria.

Milan had climbed to third in the league after putting together a six-match
unbeaten streak and the club really seemed to be coming together.

However, all of the positivity the club had built up came crashing down last
weekend in a 2-0 home defeat to struggling Palermo, which had won just twice
in its first nine games.

The Rossoneri was the highest-scoring team in Serie A until a few weeks ago,
as the club has managed just two goals from its last three games, making it
important for Filippo Inzaghi’s side to return to top form in the offensive
third.

Sampdoria has enjoyed a strong start to its season having lost just once in 10
games. And following that defeat to Inter Milan, Sampdoria bounced back with a
strong outing in a 3-1 win over Fiorentina.

Unlike Milan, Sampdoria has relied on a stingy defense to collect points
having allowed the second-fewest goals in the league.

Juventus has rebounded nicely from its lone defeat of the Serie A campaign by
winning twice in the past week, downing Empoli 2-0 in the league last weekend
before a 3-2 win over Olympiakos in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Old Lady enters the weekend with a three-point lead at the top of the
league and the club will host Parma, while second-place Roma comes into its
match with Torino on a two-game losing skid having lost 2-0 to both Napoli and
Bayern Munich over the past week.

Lazio has jumped to third place in the league on the strength of a six-match
unbeaten streak, and the team will put that mark on the line on Sunday at
Empoli, which resides in 17th place having collected just one victory.

Napoli has a bit of momentum after back-to-back wins over Roma and Young Boys,
and the club will try to keep it going with another victory at Fiorentina,
while Genoa is level on 18 points with Napoli and travels to bottom-half
Cagliari.

Inter Milan and Hellas Verona are separated by two points in the middle of the
league and the two sides square off at the San Siro, Sassuolo hosts Atalanta
in a battle of bottom-half teams, Cesena visits Chievo with both clubs
currently in the relegation places, while Udinese invades Palermo.
