Nash powers Oklahoma State past Baylor

Waco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Le’Bryan Nash led the way with 22 points as No.
21 Oklahoma State defeated 16th-ranked Baylor 74-65 on Monday.

Phil Forte netted 18 points, Jeff Newberry scored 16 with six assists and
Anthony Hickey supplied 12 points and seven helpers for the Cowboys (17-7, 7-5
Big 12), who completed their first season sweep of Baylor since 2006-07.

Taurean Prince finished with 20 points and Rico Gathers had 16 points on 6-
of-9 shooting with 16 rebounds as the Bears (18-6, 6-5) had their three-game
winning streak come to an end.

Oklahoma State went in front early in the second half. Forte knocked down a 3,
got fouled and made the ensuing free throw to ignite a 17-4 spurt that Nash
capped with a jumper that made it 49-41 with 13:42 to play.

Prince and Gathers each had four points during an 8-0 Baylor surge to cut the
deficit to three, but Forte responded by knocking down a trey for a 61-55 game
with 4:29 to go.

Nash’s three-point play and a pair of Newberry free throws put the Cowboys up
by 10 points with under two minutes remaining to seal the win.

Al Freeman ignited an 11-3 Baylor run with a 3 and Kenny Chery capped it with
a three-point play for a 20-12 lead midway through the first half.

The Cowboys, however, cut the deficit to one point heading into the half as
Newberry and Nash each made a pair of free throws and Hickey’s triple made it
a 33-32 game at the break.

Oklahoma State also defeated Baylor 64-53 on Jan. 27 … The Cowboys have won
four of their last six games against the Bears and won in Waco for the first
