(SportsNetwork.com) – Torii Hunter is reportedly returning to the Minnesota
Twins.
According USA Today on Tuesday night, Hunter has agreed to a one-year, $10.5
million contract with the team that drafted him in the first round 21 years
ago.
Hunter, who turns 40 in July, played his first 1,234 major-league games for
the Twins between 1997 and 2007 before signing with the Angels as a free agent
in 2007 and is still widely identified with the team.
He hit 192 homers for Minnesota, batted .271 with a .324 on-base percentage
and won a Gold Glove in his last seven seasons with the team.
Hunter spent five seasons with the Angels and the past two with Detroit,
batting .286 with 17 homers and 83 RBI in 142 games this year for the Tigers.
He is a career .279 hitter with 331 homers, 1,310 RBI and a .334 on-base
percentage and has been an All-Star five times.
