Reports: Timberwolves hand Rubio 4-year extension

Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) – The Minnesota Timberwolves and guard
Ricky Rubio have agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension, according
to multiple reports.

Rubio and the Timberwolves settled on a $56 million contract, which includes
$1 million in incentives, just hours prior to the midnight deadline.

The 24-year-old has become the leader of the Timberwolves since Kevin Love was
traded to Cleveland in the offseason.

Rubio started all 82 games last season and averaged 9.5 points and 8.6
assists.

The dynamic Spaniard had a sensational rookie season cut short after suffering
a torn ACL in March of 2012. He finished with averages of 10.6 points and 8.2
assists per game.

Selected fifth overall by Minnesota in 2009, Rubio owns career averages of
10.2 points, 8.1 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 steals over 182 games.
