Rockies decline option on Anderson

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) – The Colorado Rockies announced Saturday they
have declined a team option on Brett Anderson, making the left-handed starter
a free agent.

The Rockies bought out Anderson’s contract for a reported $1.5 million rather
than pick up the $12 million option for 2015.

Anderson, 26, was acquired from Oakland on Dec. 10 and made just eight starts
for the Rockies because of two 60-day stints on the disabled list due to a
broken finger and lower back surgery.

He was 1-3 with a 2.91 ERA for Colorado and is 27-32 with a 3.73 ERA in 92
career games, including 81 starts. He spent his first five season with the
Athletics.
