Manchester, England (SportsNetwork.com) – Manchester United defender Marcos
Rojo will miss around six weeks of action after suffering a dislocated
shoulder, manager Louis van Gaal confirmed on Friday.
Rojo, a 16 million pound signing from Sporting Lisbon, sustained the injury in
United’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City last week. The Red Devils are already
missing Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans.
“Marcos dislocated his shoulder but did it in positive way. We don’t need to
operate on Marcos, which is a relief,” Van Gaal said. “But with this injury it
is very difficult that it shall not happen again. And that is the problem.
“We have always a risk that it happens again. Conservatively, it can be less
than six weeks. If we have to operate, 12 weeks.”
United currently occupy 10th place in the Premier League and will face Crystal
Palace on Saturday at Old Trafford.
